Interested in a new F-150? Start by taking a closer look at the various trim levels available, their optional and standard features, what cab and bed configurations they offer, and more. Read about these seven F-150 trims to find out which one might work for you.

2017 F-150 XL
The base XL is available in four body styles (Standard, Sport, Chrome, and STX) and three cab types (Regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew). Ford’s three options for bed length (5.5-, 6.5-, and 8-feet) are also available. The standard engine depends on the configuration. Options include a 3.5-liter V-6, a 2.7-liter EcoBoost, and a 5.0-liter V-8. Drivers can also add the XL Power Equipment Group package for some extra features. Each trim has a unique grille; the XL gets a carbon black grille.
2017 F-150 XLT
The XLT has the same cab and bed length options as the XL as well as the same standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Both of these trims have an available upgrade for the engine: a 2.7-liter EcoBoost. The XLT is the first trim that can add a hitch through the Class IV Trailer Hitch package. This model also gets an exclusive chrome mesh grille.
2017 F-150 Lariat
The Lariat starts with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine and has access to additional safety and equipment group packages. This trim can only be built as either a SuperCab or SuperCrew, though all bed lengths are available. The Lariat’s grille is the first with a three-bar insert design, and this is the lowest trim with access to the Technology Package.
2017 F-150 King Ranch
The King Ranch is the first trim to come with interior luxuries like power outlets, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a universal garage door opener. This is also the first to come standard with a V-8 engine. Drivers can add some safety and exterior upgrades with King Ranch’s exclusive Equipment Group package.
2017 F-150 Platinum
The Platinum and King Ranch come standard with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine. These trucks and the Limited are only available as SuperCrew cabs, and the Platinum and King Ranch only have two options for bed length (5.5- and 6.5-feet). The Platinum and Limited are the only two trims that come standard with a blind spot information system.
2017 F-150 Limited
The Limited comes standard with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost, which is only available as an option on lower trims. If you want adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning as standard features, the Limited is your only choice. The Limited also gets a standard moonroof.
2017 F-150 Raptor
The Raptor is the only F-150 equipped with the Trailer Tow Package as a standard feature, and it’s the only truck with access to the optional Carbon Fiber Package, Exterior Graphics Package, and more. The Raptor has an exclusive powertrain as well: a 3.5-liter EcoBoost High-Output engine. Finally, this is the only F-150 with a standard four-wheel drive powertrain and high-performance FOX Racing Shox.
Hopefully this guide has helped shed some light on which trims might work for you. Visit a local dealership if you have any questions or want to schedule a test drive to experience one of these vehicles in person.
