Cloud 10 Creamery, 711 Heights Blvd.

This is a one-of-a-kind homemade ice cream eatery in Houston that serves up both ice cream and sorbets in a bunch of delicious flavors. You can opt for a banana split or sundae or simply splurge on a classic cone, handcrafted and blended to perfection. Cloud 10 Creamery offers innovative flavors such as fragrant marzipan, yummy gingersnap, brown sugar cookies and cream, and red current mascarpone.

There are two Cloud 10 Creamery locations in the Houston area. The one at 711 Heights Blvd. has an outdoor sitting area that’s perfect for a summer day. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. There is also a midtown location at 3201 Louisiana Street that has late-night hours. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday and until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Baskin-Robbins, 2431 University Blvd.

Can you ever go wrong trying the flavors at Baskin-Robbins? This homey, classic ice cream parlor is still a much-loved favorite for kids. Perks of going there include easy access to fun traditional favorites, yummy variations like clown cones and smoothies for the adults, and plentiful seating.

If you’re on a hunt for a dream sundae, you will want to try the Brownie Sundae, which is loaded with whipped cream and cherries, or you can try the double-scoop warm cookie sundae with your choice of flavors. For a special occasion, the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Sundae or Snickers Sundae are truly decadent.

Believe it or not, there are over 10 Baskin-Robbins locations in the Houston area! The University Avenue location is 3.5 miles from the Russell and Smith Ford dealership. The location is open until 10 p.m. throughout the week.

Fat Cat Creamery, 1901 N. Shepard Ave.

For a delicious old-time feel, try the Fat Cat Creamery on Shepard Ave. There’s an interesting variety at Fat Cat, including five unique flavors that are always available: Cat’s Meow Mexican Vanilla, Milk Chocolate Stout, Waterloo Strawberry Buttermilk, Amaya Coffee and Cream, and Chai Tea Coconut (which is dairy-free). There are also various seasonal flavors. As a small-batch homemade ice cream venue, Fat Cat offers a real treat and a taste of home. It’s open until midnight on Friday and Saturday, until 11 p.m. on Thursday, and until 10 p.m. the rest of the week.
