The original idea behind Good Dog was to serve the community with healthy, delicious, and locally grown hot dogs, with all ingredients and condiments made from scratch and by hand. Years later, this original concept is still as valid as it was on the day they initially opened, and the result is one of the most popular food places in Houston. Long lines form over the weekends, with people from all around looking to get some fresh home-made hot dogs.
Spicy Dog ‘N Go
This place is relatively new, having opened only two years ago. Although it hasn’t been around for long, this local food truck is quickly growing in popularity thanks to its novel approach to hot dog making. The owners explored the idea of mixing the classic hot dog with Asian flavors and the result is nothing short of spectacular. Their recipes were carefully tailored with the people of Houston in mind and judging by how quickly this place became popular, it’s safe to say that it worked. Spicy Dog is a perfect reflection of Houston’s blend of classic and modern.
YoYo’s Hot Dog
If the best indication of a hot dog stand’s quality is the number of people waiting in line to get one, then this place is among the best in town. Having started about five years ago and located on 5555 Morningside, YoYo’s Hot Dog focuses on late-night eaters, as they know there’s nothing better than a hot and delicious hot dog after a night out on the town. The stand is typically open until 3 a.m. and every night there’s a huge line of people waiting to get their hands on some of Yoyo’s amazing hot dogs.
Hot dogs are and probably always will be one of America’s most loved food items. All these places have something unique to offer their customers but they all have something in common: by visiting them you’ll definitely be getting some of the most delicious, fresh, and unique dogs in town and you’ll likely come back for more.
