The Big Bubble

For a quick thrill, you can make a stop at the Preston Street Bridge in the downtown area where, with the push of a button, you can discharge a large bubble to the surface of the calm bayou. Affectionately known by locals as the big bubble, the button was placed on the bridge in 1998 to help aerate the Buffalo Bayou.

The button is not marked but is a large red button that attracts the curious to give it a press to see what happens. When trying it out for yourself, it is best to do it in pairs. The button is located at the start of the bridge, but you will get the best view of the bubble if you are standing in the center while someone else presses it.

Once completed, he moved on to create more decorative pieces, such as rooftop beer can garland. While you can drive by to look at his masterpiece, it is the best seen by taking a tour, where you can learn fun facts about the history of his creation.
