Ford Escape vs Edge: Engine Options
The Ford Edge has two engine options. The standard engine is a twin-scroll 2.0L EcoBoost® engine that delivers 250 horsepower and works with an 8-speed automatic transmission. For more power, opt for the available 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 engine that generates 335 horsepower and works with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
The Escape has four engines to choose from, two gas and two hybrid engines. The standard 1.5L EcoBoost® engine generates 181 horsepower while the other gas engine, the available 2.0L EcoBoost® engine, delivers 250 horsepower.
The two hybrid engines for the Escape are a 2.5L plug-in hybrid and a 2.5L hybrid engine. Both of them produce 165 horsepower. The hybrid option has the following fuel economy.

Escape vs Edge: Interior Dimensions
Both SUVs have plenty of room for everyone.
The Edge has a total of 113.9 cubic feet of passenger volume and a total of 73.4 cubic feet of cargo room. The legroom is plentiful, with 42.6 inches in the front row and 40.6 inches in the back row. Passengers will also have plenty of shoulder room in the front and back rows, with 60.3 inches in the front and 60.5 inches in the rear.
The Escape is slightly smaller, with 104 cubic feet of passenger room and a total of 65.4 cubic feet of cargo volume. The legroom inside the Escape is almost equal to that of the Edge, with 42.4 inches in the first row and 40.7 inches in the second row. The shoulder room comes to 57.6 inches in the front and 56 inches in the rear.
