2022 Ford Maverick: Performance

The Maverick has a standard hybrid engine right out of the gate. The 2.5L FHEV (Hybrid) engine, paired with a PowerSplit: Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission, generates 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque.

The other engine option of the Maverick is a fuel-focused, available 2.0L EcoBoost® gas engine. With an 8-speed automatic transmission, the 2.0L engine generates 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.

The Maverick has five drive modes that come standard, too. These modes help you customize your drive, depending on what you’re doing. These modes include:

• Normal
• Tow Haul
• Slippery
• Eco
• Sport

If you opt for the available FX4 Off-Road Package, you can get Sand and Mud & Ruts modes. This package also offers skid plates, Hill Descent Control, and tuned shocks to handle the uneven terrain.

2022 Ford Maverick: Towing and Payload Capabilities

Since it’s a truck, the Maverick has impressive towing and payload capacities. How much you get depends on the equipment you use and the engine you choose.

When properly equipped, the Maverick has a maximum towing capacity of 4,000 pounds. You can tow things, like:

• A small boat
• A popup trailer
• A light utility trailer

In terms of payload, you can fit quite a lot inside the Maverick’s truck bed. The maximum payload capacity comes to 1,500 pounds when properly equipped.

The multi-position tailgate helps you haul different things and keeps the Maverick versatile. You can open the tailgate to use as a work area, adjust the tension cords to a mid-position for hauling longer materials, or close it and even add a Theft Protection Hinge to keep things safe.

2022 Ford Maverick: Tech and Safety Features

The Maverick has plenty of tech to enhance your experience. The available SYNC® 3 system lets you stream music, take phone calls, and get directions—all this with your hands still on the wheel.
