Ford's iconic F-150 pickup continues to dominate the truck market in 2018. Americans love their pickup trucks and many owners use their F-150 as the daily commuter and then haul lumber or mulch for weekend projects. The 2018 Ford F-150 comes in seven model trims with a choice of five engines, two transmissions, two drive choices, three cabs, and three-bed lengths.

The F-150 gets high marks for its clean exterior and stylish interior. It now uses aluminum on many body parts to save weight. Savvy owners will be able to distinguish trims by subtle cues such as the front grille, headlight trim, use of an 'F-150' stamping on the rear tailgate, and some differences in taillights.

The many choices of engines allow buyers to choose the power or torque they need for their lifestyle. The base engine is a 3.3 liter paired with a 6-speed automatic, and developing 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. All other engines receive a new 10-speed automatic developed in partnership with GM. There is a 2.7 liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine offering 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty for hauling that boat up a ramp. The EcoBoost is also rated to tow 8500 pounds or carry 2500 in the cargo bed. There is a 5.0 liter V-8 for those who want the sound of eight cylinders, as well as its 395 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. A 3.0-liter turbodiesel will be brought to the line in 2018. The last engine is a 3.5 twin-turbo V-6 developing 375 hp and 470 lb-ft (450 hp and 510 lb-ft in the Raptor line). The 3.5 liter has the highest towing capacity at up to 12,000 pounds.

The F-150 is offered with a choice of three cabs; two-door Regular extended SuperCab, and a full-size SuperCrew with four doors. SuperCab models can seat four adults, and the SuperCrew can fit 4-5 with lots of rear seat leg room. There is a deep center console that has the room to store loads of stuff, even hanging folders. Ford has retained dials and large buttons on the dash so drivers can use them even wearing gloves. There are three-bed lengths; 5.5 feet, 6.5 feet, and 8 feet. Longer beds are fitted with extended range 36-gallon gas tanks. Factory options such as loading ramps, bed lighting, and cleats make cargo loading easy in all conditions.

Regardless of whether you are looking for a work truck or a truck that lets you play, Ford uses a wide range of packages and options that create hundreds of different configurations. Pick and choose to get just the right truck for you, without having to deal with options you may never use. When you are ready to make those choices, come to Russell & Smith Ford and let us help you configure your ideal 2018 Ford F-150. Then go hook up your boat or trailer and have some fun!
