The 2018 Ford Escape is a strong contender in the crossover SUV market. It is offered in four trims labeled S, SE, SEL, and Titanium and a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive in all trims. The base engine is an inline-4 cylinder developing 168 horsepower; you can opt for a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder offering 179 horsepower or the 2.0-liter turbo-four developing 245 horses. Power is delivered through a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters on turbo engine models.

The 2018 Escape offers crisp handling and a firm suspension feel. A form of torque vectoring, where the Escape can activate individual brakes, helps with cornering. Inside the Escape is a sculpted dash which mimics a much larger SUV, sculpted yet supportive seats, a two-level cargo bed floor, and a rear hatchback which can be opened with a wave of a foot.

Ford options advanced safety features on some trims, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, active lane control, automatic parking assist, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. All Escapes come with a driver?s knee airbag and reverse camera. A tow package improves the headlights and adds trailer sway control. Other trim-dependent options include climate control, premium audio, leather seating, a larger 8.0-inch infotainment screen, satellite radio, heated front seats, keyless ignition, and much more.
