There are many SUVs out there that would be a great addition to your family, but the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V are two that separate themselves from the pack, thanks to a myriad of amazing features and performance specs.

Which one is better for you, though? At Russell and Smith Ford, we’ll answer that question for our friends and family near Houston, Sugarland, and Missouri City, Texas.

Ford Escape vs Honda CR-V: Performance

Ford Escape vs Honda CR-V Performance

Drivers in our local area love the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V for various reasons, one of the biggest being their ability to perform in virtually any situation. We’ll start by peaking under the hood of each vehicle.

Honda drivers can choose from a gas or hybrid engine, both of which offer 190 horsepower and varying degrees of torque, the most being 232 lb-ft. But if you’re someone who wants to hear the roar of your engine while you make your way to your destination, the Ford can do that with its available 2.0L EcoBoost® engine that produces 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.

Both vehicles, in their initial trims, are equipped with Continuously Variable Transmissions, though the one in the Ford is electronic. As you upgrade, the Ford will feature an 8-Speed Automatic Transmission with Paddle Shifters, and the Honda will feature an Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission.

With SUVs like these, you may be tempted to conquer all types of terrain. Each of them feature different drive modes to make your drives more exciting, such as Eco (ECON in the Honda) and Sport modes. However, the Ford has more options, such as:

  • Slippery
  • Deep Snow/Sand
  • Normal

Ford vs Honda: Infotainment

One of the best feelings in the world is being able to listen to your favorite songs in your car, all while never having to look at your phone to start the next one. Both sets of wheels allow you to connect your phone wirelessly via Bluetooth® and support Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. However, those integration features are standard across all Escape trims, whereas they do not come with the base model CR-V.

The Ford is also able to connect with Amazon’s Alexa, where you can shop, access voice navigation, and so much more. CR-V enthusiasts won’t have access to Alexa in their vehicle.

For all your audio needs, the Escape has your back with an available 10-speaker audio system with a subwoofer from Bang & Olufsen. The sound system in the Honda is not quite as powerful, as it has nine speakers.

Escape vs CR-V: Safety Features

Ford Escape vs CR-V Safety Features

When these vehicles are constructed, safety is the top priority. The Ford and the Honda are masters of safety, thanks to numerous safety technologies aimed at avoiding tons of dangerous incidents. Some of the similar features they offer include:

  • BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Lane-Keeping System
  • Auto High-Beam Headlamps

Do you dread parking on a busy street, or in a crowded parking lot? If you go with the Ford Escape, the vehicle takes that stress off your plate with the available Active Park Assist 2.0 feature, which can help you locate a parking spot. Then, with the push of a button, the Escape will park itself!

Plus, Active Park Assist 2.0 comes with a Park Out feature that’ll help you back out of a space, so you’ll never have to worry about doing that on your own ever again. Unfortunately, the CR-V doesn’t have any kind of parking assist feature.

Ford Escape vs Honda CR-V: Verdict

When it comes to the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V, Russell and Smith Ford believes that the Escape is the superior set of wheels based on its engine options, performance, infotainment, and safety features.
