Technology
Confidence on the Road to Adventure
The Ford Escape for 2020 offers a wide range of available technologies to help keep you aware of your surroundings and ever-changing traffic conditions. From the driveway to the highway, the standard Ford Co-Pilot360™ has you covered. Ford Co-Pilot360™ is an advanced suite of standard driver-assist technologies to help keep you connected and confident as you hit the road as part of your diverse, adventurous and active lifestyle.
Ford Co-Pilot360™ Technology
Ford Co-Pilot360™ is an advanced suite of standard driver-assist technologies that includes BLIS® with Cross Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, Lane-Keeping System and Rear View Camera. Ford Escape also makes additional technology available that is designed to help keep you in command, from the driveway to the highway.
Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
If the system's sensors detect a potential collision with a car or pedestrian in front of you, a warning flashes and an audible alert sounds. Also, the brakes will precharge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you do brake. If you do not take corrective action and a collision is imminent, the brakes can automatically apply.
BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert
This feature helps increase your awareness where you need it most. BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert uses radar to identify if a vehicle is detected in your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the appropriate exterior mirror. Cross-Traffic Alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you as you're slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway. If cross-traffic sensors detect a vehicle approaching, you will be audibly and visually alerted.
Available Active Park Assist 2.0
Parking made easy - even in tight parallel or reverse perpendicular spots. When engaged, it can help locate a potential spot. Then all you have to do is brake to a complete stop, shift into Neutral and hold down the Active Park Assist button - your vehicle does the rest.
Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go
This available feature slows down your vehicle if the traffic ahead has stopped or slowed. Available Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go technology can bring your vehicle to a complete stop in stopped traffic and resume as traffic begins to move.
Rear View Camera
The Rear View Camera provides a great view of what's behind your vehicle. Just make sure to keep the camera lens free of debris (like snow or dust) and you can navigate your vehicle in Reverse with confidence.
Evasive Steering Assist
This available feature can help make it easier to avoid a potential collision. It doesn't steer for you, but it can provide extra steering support if the system warning goes off and you need to maneuver around the vehicle ahead.
Lane-Keeping System
The Lane-Keeping System can help you stay in your lane, even during a moment of distraction. This feature scans your vehicle's position between the lines in the road ahead and can alert you if you're starting to edge out of your lane.
Voice-Activated Navigation System
This available feature with SYNC adds pinch-to-zoom capability that can help you stay confidently on course.
Auto High-Beam Headlamps
Auto High-Beam Headlamps can sense poor lighting conditions and switch on to light your path ahead. They can even sense oncoming headlights and dim automatically, so you don't have to worry about blinding other drivers.
Available SYNC® 3
Smart hardware. Smart software. Smart design. Simple music search, capacitive touchscreen, enhanced voice recognition, and climate control keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. SYNC® 3 also brings you the power of Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility to your Ford.

Use your app to access features like start/stop, lock/unlock, remote start scheduling, vehicle location, fuel levels and mileage. Your FordPass Connect™-equipped vehicle can also be a Wi-Fi hotspot. The hotspot can be accessed up to 50 feet outside the vehicle.
WAZE Technology
You can collaborate with other users, outsmarting traffic by sharing information to get the best routes, and receive real-time alerts about accidents, road hazards and traffic jams. You can operate Waze through your vehicle's touchscreen, as well as use voice commands for hands-free control, helping to keep your eyes on the road.

The eight-speed SelectShift transmission offers the convenience of an automatic or the sporty feel of a manual. Also, the all-new Escape Hybrid packages its liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery smartly outside of the vehicle below the floor of the second-row seats rather than occupying a significant portion of the cargo area. Plug-In 2.5L iVCT Atkinson-Cycle I-4 engine
The 2020 Escape Plug-In Hybrid has a Level 1/Level 2 AC charging port. Using a 110-volt Level 1 charger, the estimated time to fully charge the battery is 10 to 11 hours. Using a 240-volt Level 2 charger, charge time drops to roughly 3.5 hours. What's more, the new design of the 2020 Escape allows for the battery to be stored underneath the vehicle, which frees up space in the cabin, offering plug-in customers more room with no humps from the battery.
Available AWD Disconnect
Designed to save fuel, All-Wheel Drive Disconnect can disable the rear driveline when the system detects AWD is not needed. This allows only the front wheels to propel the vehicle, reducing drag and the overall energy demands of the drivetrain.
Selectable Drive Modes
Designed to help improve your driving experience and handling on varying road surfaces. The different modes are Eco, Sport, Normal, Slippery and Deep Snow/Sand. Once selected, each one of these driving modes can modify the electronic stability control system and traction control system without you having to do anything.
